High blood pressure can be a deadly medical condition if not taken care of in a timely matter. Measures must be taken to keep it under control. Most of the time, there are no symptoms. For most patients, high blood pressure is found when they visit their health care provider during a routine visit. Because there are no symptoms, people can develop heart disease and kidney problems without knowing that they have high blood pressure. Some of the symptoms to look out for are: severe headache, nausea or vomiting, confusion, changes in your vision, or nosebleeds. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you may have a severe and dangerous form of high blood pressure called “malignant hypertension.”
High blood pressure can be caused by being overweight. And one high blood pressure cure that a doctor can recommend is weight loss. According to the Mayo Clinic, “Changing your lifestyle can go a long way toward controlling high blood pressure. But sometimes lifestyle changes aren’t enough. In addition to diet and exercise, your doctor may recommend medication to lower your blood pressure. Which category of medication your doctor prescribes depends on your stage of high blood pressure and whether you also have other medical problems.”¹
Also a great way to lose weight and get in better health can be the lap band surgery. The lap band surgery can help with the weight loss and help with the medical conditions that come with obesity. Lap band aetna insurance may qualify a patient automatically for full Lap Band coverage if the patient is more than 100 pounds over their ideal weight, has a BMI of over 40, has a BMI of over 35 with obesity-
related medical problems such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, lower extremity
lymphatic, sleep apnea, or coronary artery disease, and/or have been overweight more that two years
and have failed diet / exercise or other weight-loss programs.
