And the battle rages on between the benefits of the GPS tracking system and other systems of navigation that are apparently flawless in helping people recover lost property by being able to pinpoint its location accurately, with the only difference in the type of communication technology that is used to locate the item in question.

While the US military set up 24 satellites to compute the location of a vehicle, shipment or even a person based on the GPS receiver that was located appropriately, and was detected specifically through satellite tracking.

Although they used this navigation system for a while, with the rapid development of technology that was used in creating far more advanced navigation systems, the GPS system was opened out to the public for use.
Whether it is used for commercial or personal purposes, one thing remains for sure: the accuracy of the location is highly accurate by any standards, leaving one to take an appropriate course of action going forward.

For this, a GPS tracking device has to be attached to the item that needs to be tracked, while larger items like cars and transportation devices normally require the installment of a GPS receiver that will not only has the capability to track one vehicle but several at a time.

While several other system vie for the top spot in term of being able to provide an item’s exact location, it has been proven time and time again that GPS still remains one of the most accurate technology to use for the same purpose.

When most people buy a convection microwave oven, they fail to consider its controls. The more user-friendly the appliance is - the better it is for you. Its usability can make a huge difference to you and how you use your new oven. Otherwise, you will join that long list of people unsatisfied with their purchase, and regret not doing the necessary research before. Here are a few tips that will help you decide on which controls would work best for you and your family.

First, find out what presets come on the models that you have narrowed down to make the purchase. Your most frequent tasks will determine your decision - as you will need an oven that offers presets for your most common tasks. If some tasks do not have presets, then find out how many steps you would need to take to program the appliance. If a commonly used task requires a sequence of say five steps, then cross off that model off your list.

Next, take a good long look at the displays on the oven. Check if you can read them easily, especially in low lighting situations. Checks on how well lit up these displays are. Another important aspect is to decide on where you will place the appliance and then check if you will still be able to see the display well enough from this chosen spot.

Also, decide on how easy the oven is to use. Some models offer helpful prompts, otherwise, you would need to keep pulling out the manual every time you want to use the oven. Check the keypad on the appliance and see if it is easy to use.

Make sure you check the operations of the controls and then, select the appliance that works best for you!

Hard-core techies have been hacking their hardware for a longtime in the effort to get every little bit performance out of their PC’s by overclocking the processors on their computers. The reason techies are usually the only ones to do this, is that you need to have an intricate knowledge of the inner workings of computers as well as be able to use specialized hardware and software. Even with this knowledge it is possible to push the machine so far out that it begins to crash or fails to boot.

While normal computer users will not notice much of a change in an overclocked PC, Gamers are the only ones who experience any real performance gain. Having said that, if you do own a $400 Netbook which is slow and sluggish to use, over-clocking just might make a difference.

With this in mind, Asus has decided to include overclocking software in its popular Eee PC netbook series. Called the Super Hybrid Engine, the application allows you to take the 1.33 GHz Atom CPU and push it up to a maximum of 1.73GHz. Theoretically, this means you could experience as much as 30% boost in performance just by changing a few settings and overclocking your computer. The best part about this feature is that, Asus itself supports the software, so you will not void your warranty when overclocking.

A word of warning, overclocking causes an increase in heat, the fans to run longer and louder and even the occasional crash; inevitably the extra performance will affect battery life.

Insignia Blu-Ray players are now selling at $99 along with Streaming Netflix. The Insignia NS-BRDVD3, which is a budget Blu-ray deck with that does 1080p upconversion for standard DVDs, on-board decoding of lossless Dolby TrueHD soundtracks (no native DTS-HD Master Audio support, unfortunately), and an Ethernet port for access to Net-connected BD-Live extras. It was only a few weeks ago that the same player was priced at $129 with a $50 Netflix coupon. But now Best Buy has dropped the price to $99 with no coupon needed. This turns out to be a pretty good deal considering the fact that the deck also streams about 17,000 movies and TV shows from Netflix (provided you’re a subscriber). Best Buy is also selling a Wi-Fi-enabled version of the player for $199.

The Blu-Ray player is not the first player to break the $100 barrier. Sears has been selling a refurbished Magnavox BD player for $99, and until recently, Newegg had the same player for just $79, although it’s out of stock. Blu-Ray prices will surely fall as we approach the holiday season. Rumors are that BD decks could sell as low as $49 but unfortunately it would not be a Sony or Samsung player.

New credit cards that come with RFID have been causing paranoia about their security capabilities in the minds of many users. Although the chips make the cards safer to user, security wise the chips themselves are not that secure. Thus they can be hacked in to and whatever information stored in them retrieved without much effort. To avert this security threat and ease the minds of credit card holders, Flipside has come up with a neat invention that allows users to store their chipped credit cards and shield them from any prying individuals who may be lurking far away.

The credit card wallet features a polypropylene clamshell case that will hold 7 credit cards and another compartment for storing US dollars. The compartment is the width for a dollar, which means that in other countries, users may have to fold the notes in order for them to fit inside the case. The cash compartment does not have the aluminum shielding, which means you can keep a bus pass or a toll pass in it and offer it to the card reader without risking the data on your credit cards being stolen. The radio shielded Flipside wallet is both stylish and practical and provides its users with the ideal protection for their new RFID chipped credit cards.

As the rumors go it is becoming more and more likely that Apple will launch its ten inch touch screen tablet early in 2010. According to iLounge and iPhone blog the tablet is also rumored to measure 10.7 inches and will run on the same operating system used in iPhones. As for resolution, it is rumored to be much more than the iPhone. “Expect something like 5-6 times the resolution of an iPod Touch or iPhone screen (720p or thereabouts) and 7 times the touchable surface area,” writes iLounge.

According to the iLounge source, the tablet would specialize as a slate like replacement for books and magazines. This could mean that the new tablet would pose a serious threat to Amazon’s Kindle and their eBook store. There are also rumors that Apple may include eBooks in their iTunes Store that can be easily downloaded on the new tablet. The tablet will come in two versions, one that will feature 3G network support and the other without. Another source also claims that the two versions will be that one will have a webcam for video conferencing and the other for education, and without a webcam. The iLounge source claims that the tablet with the camera would be the one with 3G network support and the one without a camera would be the one that lacks 3G too. Other sources have also claimed that the tablet would retail between $700 and $900, positioning it between the iPhone and iPod Touch and Apple’s range of notebooks.

After much fanfare and hype, Sony has revealed their new ebook reader. The new Sony Reader Daily Edition has a huge 7 inch touch screen display. It also comes with AT&T 3G connectivity, and the best part about this connectivity is that unlike any other devices that use 3G, there are no monthly charges. The Daily Edition comes equipped with Sony’s new ebook library software, Library Finder, which is now compatible with both Macs and PCs.

Before Library Finder, users had to be plugged into a computer if they wanted to download books. Library finder is an electronic ebook borrowing system, allowing you to borrow books like you would from a library and then ‘return’ it after specific period of time. This is done with the partnership of a Cleveland-based company called Overdrive Inc. What this system does is let the user register for an electronic library card. After the user is registered, then he or she will be able to see what ebooks are available at their local libraries by entering their zip code. Users will then be able to ‘borrow’ those books for up to 29 days. After 29 days the book will be erased from the device on its own, thus completing the entire cycle.

Sony’s Daily Reader also comes USB ports; therefore, the user could download files from their computer, even those in other formats such pdf or rtf. The internal memory can hold up to 1,000 titles. If that is not enough, Sony gave the Daily Reader a memory card slot so you can upgrade your memort at any point. In terms of construction, the Daily Reader’s casing is constructed out of aluminum, giving it a very solid feel in the hand. While in portrait mode, the Daily Reader can display 30-35 lines of text. The electronic ink display boasts 16 levels of grayscale.

Sony’s Daily Reader will be available in red, black, and silver and will cost $399.

“Short circuit” is often used to refer to any electrical malfunction, but a short circuit specifically refers to a low-resistance connection between two points in an electric circuit. Rather than flowing along the normal path, the current travels through the area of low resistance. Short circuits are caused by a hot wire touching a neutral wire or another hot wire. They can also be caused by a break in a wire in the circuit.

Locating short circuits can be difficult because it may be in an appliance, or it may be in the internal wiring. Before trying to determine where the short circuit has occurred, be sure to shut off all power at the outlet and unplug all devices. Then reset the breaker (for information about how to do this, see “How to Reset Tripped Circuit Breakers”). If it trips immediately, the problem lies within the wiring. The problem may also be within the wiring if the breaker doesn’t trip right away but trips upon testing the fixed lighting. If the breaker still has not tripped, the short circuit lies within a device. Test devices individually to see which one contains the short circuit.
