Choosing a GPU is a dicey affair. One must take several considerations chief among them the power needs. GPUs are mostly needed as power back-ups and in situations that main lines are not available. This can be in the forest during a trip or even in the home garden. The amount of power needed is the top priority when looking for a GPU. For huge power needs, the GPU can be a wheel mounted generator while for simple lighting, a small portable generator is usually sufficient.
The energy source of the GPU is another consideration to make. Diesel, gasoline or lithium batteries can be used to power the GPU. This consideration should be done with costs in the background. Gasoline and diesel are good for large GPUs while batteries can power smaller units. The advantages of lithium batteries over gasoline and diesel are that batteries can be recharged and are safer. Poor handling of flammable fuel is always a possibility. Batteries are also easily portable while fuel is voluminous and has challenges in handling.
Lithium batteries are cheaper in the long run but have a drawback in the amount of power they can give. The highest rating is near 24 volts. For a power backup that needs to supply a lot of power say for example a school, the option of using batteries is not viable. A GPU should ideally be wheel mounted if it is large. This makes it easier to move around according to different needs of power supply.
